Corvette Restomod Stuns With Amazing Surprise
This may look like a sleek C3 Corvette restoration, but you’ll be shocked at what lies beneath the mouthwatering surface.
If there is one constant in writing about the Corvette it is that it never fails to surprise. Corvette always rouses the auto industry and drivers alike. From its dream car roots to today’s mid-engined C8, the consistent design and performance just inspire. Certainly, this unique C3 Corvette restomod is proof of that spirit of invention. It is a revolutionary build, yes. But a C3? Well, yes and no.
This is actually a C6 conversion. Built by two brothers, they wanted to combine the 1976 C3 Corvette with the performance upgrades of a C6. Rather than do an engine swap, they did a conversion. And it is one of the coolest C3 Corvette restomods we’ve ever seen.
Created by the brilliant Hardcore Engine Builders (HEB) in Hungary, the build started with an unconventional idea. The plan was to take a custom-built C3 and fit it on the chassis of the C6. They would be using the drivetrain, powertrain the C6 Corvette components.
A major draw is the power of the C6 LS3. The 6.2L V8 engine is paired to a 6-speed 6L80 automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

Other upgrades include ABS, traction control, C6 Corvette transaxle, C6 Corvette steering parts, C6 Z06 brakes, stainless steel long tube headers and exhaust system.
Wanting a decidedly beefy, pro-touring aesthetic, the C3 underwent a lot of mods. One of the best choices was including hidden angle eyes headlights with HID lights. Very 1970s muscle.
HEB is a bit tight-lipped on all the details, but they have documented some of the build on their YouTube channel.
Seamless fabrication and aggressive details make a toothy Shark-era Corvette. And the grey and blue paint is perfect, highlighting the hood and side vents in a very apt Great White palette.

As an idea, putting a C3 body on a C6 chassis sounds a little crazy. And it is. Which is why it works so perfectly. Not only does this Corvette strike an imposing presence, it can back it up in its performance.
