Corvette Toy Run

YouTuber Matt Whittington brings his C8 Corvette along for a ride down to Cape Canaveral for a toy run to remember for a long time to come.

Do you know what’s even better than owning a Corvette? Being a part of a community who gives back, of course! There’s nothing like turning up in your ‘Vette with a few like-minded members of the family to do something good, whether for a fellow Corvette owner, or an entire group in need.

For YouTuber Matt Whittington, (a.k.a., RearWheelDrive), the call arrived in the form of a toy run near his Florida home. Thus, with his C8 and his girlfriend, he answered.

“In today’s video […] we’re going to be heading over to a Corvette toy run in Cape Canaveral,” said Whittington. “It is an all-Corvette event, so we should be seeing a ton of ‘Vettes, and possibly a ton of C8s.”

After a quick trip to Target, Whittington arrived in the C8 at the gathering spot before the run. There, tons upon tons of Corvettes were ready to go. Every generation had representatives, including a massive flock of C6- and C7-era rides. As for the C8 Era, Whittington noted about 12 of the newest ‘Vettes were ready to bring cheer to every child down throughout Broward County.

“It’s police-escorted,” said Whittington, “which is really cool. We’re going through all the stop signs, stop lights, everything.”

It’s also an opportunity to peel out of the lot to let that 6.2-liter LT2 V8 sing a few Christmas carols on the way to where the C8 Convertible made its debut over a year ago. Not to mention how it cool it must’ve been for Corvette fans to see so many of their favorites roll down A1A.

“I’m already paying overtime to my elves,” said Santa Claus. “It’s out of control! Merry Christmas to you!”

There’s nothing like the feeling one gets for giving the gift of joy to those in need, whether it’s a beleaguered Santa, or the kids who will receive their gifts this Christmas time. Corvette owners certainly embody the spirt of giving, and we’re all the better for them.
