The owner of this C8 Corvette dyno and track tests all of his mods, and the result is one seriously impressive combo.

We already know that the C8 Corvette is a performance bargain, an exotic mid-engine machine that will run sub-3.0-second 0-60 times and a low 11-second quarter-mile right out of the box when equipped with the optional Z51 package. And while we still aren’t quite able to tune the C8, there are already quite a few bolt-on parts that can help the car make a bit faster, as we can clearly see in this video from the YouTube channel Drag Racing and Car Stuff.

In the clip, the purveyor of the channel catches up with Carlos Rios of Action Auto Care, who owns and races this C8 Corvette. Rios has been experimenting with his car for some time, adding parts and then dyno testing it to see what effect they have on power. At first, Rios was able to get into the high 10s with nothing more than a set of stainless steel American Racing headers, which is undoubtedly impressive.

Since then, Rios has also ported the stock intake manifold and added a larger 95 mm throttle body to the mix, as well as a new air filter. Those simple modifications helped the car make 510 horsepower and 478 pound-feet of torque on the dyno, as well as propel the C8 Corvette to a best quarter-mile time of 10.55 seconds at 129 miles-per-hour with a set of Hoosier P335/30R18 drag radials mounted out back.

Those are impressive numbers indeed, and they make this naturally-aspirated C8 Corvette a problem on the track for some pretty quick cars of other makes and models. “You were lining up against the McLaren and the GT-R and you were definitely holding your own there,” the host says. “You’re one of the fastest C8s I’ve ever seen. The other one I’ve seen that’s as quick is a twin-turbo.”

In the video, we see the modded C8 run dead even with a Tesla Model S Performance and get outrun by a highly modified Charger Hellcat, which runs low nines. Regardless, Rios has one seriously impressive car that figures to only get faster as he experiments with additional modifications. In fact, if we ever get to the point where we can tune the new Corvette, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this thing run nines without any sort of power adder.
