C8 Corvette Owner Lines up Against Bugatti Veyron (Because Why Not?)

Can the giant-killing C8 Corvette really hang with a $1.9 million-dollar, 1,000 horsepower hypercar?

In just a year, the C8 Corvette has quickly developed a reputation for being a giant killer. A budget mid-engine sports car that can hang with the best of them, save for perhaps some seriously expensive hypercars, of course. We’ve seen the C8 Corvette go up against McLarens and Ferraris, among other exotic machinery, but this drag race against a Bugatti Veyron is taking things to an entirely new level.

We say this because the Veyron dwarfs the Corvette in virtually every measurable way, from its nearly $2 million dollar price tag to its quad-turbo W16 powerplant that lays down 987 horsepower in this particular spec. Meanwhile, this C8 Corvette, owned by YouTuber Mod2Fame, is bone stock mechanically speaking, which means it makes “just” 495 horsepower.

That makes for a classic David vs. Goliath moment when Mod2Fame calls out the Veyron owner for an impromptu street race, which as we all know, is not the proper place to conduct such activities. Regardless, we were undeniably curious to see how this epic showdown might turn out, given the stark contrast between these two performance machines.

Unfortunately, the first race goes pretty much exactly how we thought it might – with the Bugatti laying a football field-sized gap on the poor C8. But since Mod2Fame didn’t go all out for that one, he decides to try again in a different gear. Thus, the two go at it again, and this time, the Corvette hangs in it – for a second. The Bugatti then leaps ahead and turns the C8 into a tiny spec in its ultra-expensive rear-view mirror once again.

Not that any of this should surprise us, but it’s still pretty cool to see just how different these cars really are. The C8 Corvette is undoubtedly a quick car, but the Veyron is quite literally in a league of its own. However, that won’t be the case forever. We’d wager that in the coming months, we’ll see a modified C8 come along that will provide a bit more competition for the multi-million-dollar jewel of a car, and perhaps even give it a taste of its own medicine.
