One’s a restomod, the other’s restored to NCRS standards. Together, this ’59 C1 Corvette pair are sure to light up the Arizona desert.
How do you like your Corvette? Untouched since leaving the factory? Fully modded? Restored to its former showroom glory? It can be hard to pick your faves from the various paths available. Most times, you just have to pick a lane, and stick to it.
Of course, if you have enough cash, you could pick more than one way to go. Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2021 will present such an opportunity, in the form of a pair of ’59 C1 Corvettes going up on the block together. One’s a restomod, the other restored based on what the National Corvette Restorers Society demands. Let’s see what makes this pair so special.
“A lot of people we have over the auction block, they’ll buy a car. We’ll hear from ’em later, and [they’ll] go, ‘You know what? I was into the restomod thing,’” said Barrett-Jackson president Steve Davis. “‘I love it. But you know, the more I drove it, and the more I talk to people, the more I went to the shows, the more interest I got into the original.’”
Davis and CEO/chair Craig Jackson learned a lot of their bidders either take an original and go restomod, or vice versa. In this instance, though, a lucky bidder can have both. Lot No. 1419 is the restomod, combining OEM vintage pieces with later-gen Corvette components. The 5.7-liter LS6 sends it to the rear set of Z06 wheels via a Tremec TKO five-speed manual, and it all rides low to the ground, like a restomod should.
“These are two great cars by themselves,” said Jackson, “but what an opportunity to buy ’em as a pair. Matching colors; they’re both in this Snowcrest White with a red interior.”
Lot No. 1419.1, meanwhile, keeps it 100% showroom correct. The 283 Corvette garnered two NCRS Top Flights and a Duntov Mark of Excellence for the effort put into restoring this wonderful piece of history. In fact, when scored, it only lost one point out of 350, and that was due to the paint.
Whomever places the winning bid will not be disappointed. They’ll have one C1 Corvette to drive daily, and one to bring out on special occasions. And no guilt or indecision on modding or keeping original.
