Borla Exhaust Gives C8 Corvette a Savage Symphony
To best demonstrate exhaust upgrades, Borla rocks out with the C8 Corvette.
For over 40 years, Borla Exhaust has mastered the art of performance technology. And in our opinion, the mid-engined C8 Corvette is pretty much the epitome of a hi-po sports car. They make such beautiful noise together. In a new video we get to experience how the right set up can change the performance and sonic impact of the C8 Corvette.
A new short video entitled “Like a Symphony” features the Borla C8 performance exhaust with Polyphonic Switchfire in action. Compared to stock, this exhaust gives the Corvette one of the hottest, most aggressive soundtracks.
Bone-stock, the C8 Corvette is very satisfying. But Borla builds for performance. So they compare a factory fresh ‘Vette to two tuned by Borla. The true test comes when Borla runs the C8 Corvette stock, and compares that to its S-Type and ATAK sound systems. As they point out, the Borla sytems employs anti-drone technology; so there is zero drone for any gear, speed, or rpm.
The first run is stock. And it is classic Corvette. Strong, potent, and sounds great.
Next they test out the S-Type.
It is a notable difference. The revs make you jump, and it is all around more aggressive and precise. However, as beastly as it is, it still is refined; handling is magnificent and it really excels on the straightaway.
Finally they run the ATAK. The C8 emits a thunderous roar that means biz’ness. You can hear the Corvette’s power from gears shifting to its crackling, soul-rattling note.
David Borla and his team gives us a look at the systems. As Borla notes, Chevy had such a solid stock exhaust on the C8 Corvette that they had to make all modifications very carefully to offer the a worthy aftermarket option.
But how exactly did they create such a killer sound?
Much of this comes by way of their patent-pending Polyphonic Exhaust Harmonizer. Each utilizes pipes with different diameters and lengths to create multiple exhaust notes that actually harmonize together. The mufflers then enhance this tone to adapt to the character and volume desired for Touring, S-Type and ATAK systems.
While each exhaust has a different sound, grunt, and feel; we love the choice of options. Give it a listen, and turn it up.
