Corvette Collector Edition convertible ticks all the right boxes, but like most C4s, is selling for a reasonable price.

In the hierarchy of Corvettes, there’s no doubt that the C4 gets the least amount of love these days. But this generation of GM’s legendary sports car was undoubtedly an important one in the grand scheme of things, ushering in a totally new design direction that lasted for decades. Regardless, C4s are readily available and cheap to buy these days, and that even applies to this very rare and quite special 1996 Corvette Collector Edition convertible up for grabs at Classic Cars.

GM only produced 469 1996 Corvette Collector Edition convertibles to mark the end of C4 production, and this is one of them. It also only has a mere 15,907 miles on the clock, and as a result, is in fantastic condition, aside from a few typical stone chips on the front end. Otherwise, the car’s many unique features are still intact – including the original Sebring Silver paint, five-spoke wheels, and Collector Edition badging.

As if that wasn’t enough, this gorgeous C4 is also equipped with the optional 5.7-liter LT4 V8, which is rated to produce 330 horsepower and is mated to a ZF six-speed manual transmission. Performance is good even by today’s standards – 0-60 takes just under five seconds, with the quarter-mile coming in a little over 13 seconds. This example is completely original as well, save for the addition of a Corsa exhaust and short-throw shifter.

The previous owner of this car clearly kept it stored away and didn’t drive it a ton, likely because they wanted to preserve it as a future collectible. However, as is often the case, that plan didn’t pan out. This particular car’s original MSRP was $50,054, but the asking price is just $29,900. That seems like a solid deal, but then again, we are talking about a C4 here, even if it is a late version with a great powerplant.

The big question is, will that remain the case forever? History is littered with cars that folks didn’t appreciate for a long time, only to enjoy a surge in value years later. It’s unclear if that will ever be the case with the C4, but if it is, this Collector Edition will certainly be one of the more coveted cars of its generation.
