This gorgeous 1962 Corvette restomod takes everything we love about the C1 and improves upon it with modern goods.

Fine Corvette restomods are a dime a dozen these days, and appear to be more popular than ever. In fact, every major auction we browse has at least a handful of them, and most all feature seriously impressive build quality. That means the bar is quite high, but this 1962 Corvette restomod headed to Barrett-Jackson’s upcoming Houston auction is definitely good enough to hang out with that elite company.

As is the case with most fine Corvette restomods, this C1 doesn’t try to reinvent the styling wheel. Instead, it retains its timeless good looks and enhances them with immaculate bodywork and paint, shiny chrome, a set of retro-looking staggered 18- and 19-inch Schott knock-off wheels wrapped with Pirelli P-zero tires, and a soft-top wrapped with material lifted from Mercedes-Benz to go along with the painted hardtop.

Everything mechanical on this gorgeous 1962 Corvette restomod is thoroughly modern, however, starting with the car’s 5.7-liter LS6 V8, which is dressed up with a polished Weiand intake. The fuel-injected crate motor breathes through a Borla stainless-steel exhaust and looks like a polished jewel sitting in a beautifully detailed engine bay. The modern mill is backed up by a 4L60E automatic overdrive transmission, which sends power back to a Ford 9-inch rear end.

This beauty of a C1 rides on a brand new Art Morrison chassis with an adjustable coilover front and rear suspension and SSBC disc brakes at all four corners, which completes the modern driving experience. And the driver and passenger are awash in total comfort thanks to a gorgeous custom leather interior bearing loads of amenities including a Vintage Air HVAC system, power windows, Classic Industries instrumentation, and a Kenwood touchscreen.

The details here are nothing less than astounding as well. Even the stereo system is hidden inside the spare tire area to help retain the clean, sanitary appearance this Corvette holds near and dear. Overall, it’s an incredible example of why restomods are so popular these days, taking a beloved model from the past and making it even better without ruining what made us love it in the first place.
