I know what you did last summer. Nothing. Yeah, 2020 was a tough one. But things have started to return to normal. Which means the very welcome return of getting out and making the most of the dog days. We think it is safe to say that Corvette is the perfect summer ride. We have a variety of fun and essential automotive events that should appeal to all Corvette fans. So, drop the top and hit the road.
10. F9 Movie Opens: June 24
Okay, we’re going to ease into things with a big, over-the-top, popcorn flick. Which is exactly what we want in a summer flick. F9, the latest and possibly final chapter in the Fast & The Furious franchise hits screens, and streaming devices.
It is hard not to enjoy these films–if for no other reason than the cars alone. Crazy action sequences and killer cars makes for perfect summer fair.
9. Corvette Kickoff Classic: July 9 – July 11
Lawton, OK hosts the 5th Annual Corvette Kickoff. This three-day event is put together by the Southwest Oklahoma Corvette Club (SWOCC), and they know what enthusiasts want, and they deliver. A favorite event for many, the Corvette Kickoff features two Corvette shows, cruises and excursions, awards, auctions, and so much ‘Vette fun.
8. Great Summer Escape: July 16
The events thrown by Phantom Vettes are all about the Corvette driver experience. And the 13th Annual Great Summer Escape gives drivers a chance to explore some gorgeous road in New Mexico’s Lincoln National Forest. Corvette kicks, rallys, and a host of other activities make this a great chance to hit the road and hang out with your fellow enthusiasts.
The theme of 2021’s Philadelphia Concours d’Elegance is “Corvette–America’s Sports Car.” Special events include a showcase assembly of Corvettes, a panel discussion of past Corvette racers, a Rally Across America ride, car corral, and more.
6. Corvette Invasion: July 16 – 18
They’re here! The 2021 Corvette Invasion sees hundreds of Corvettes from all over the U.S. descend on Texas. A very welcome invasion, the event is a chance to meet up and have a pre-party before taking it to the track. On Sunday, participants hit Circuit of the Americas Race Track for parade laps on an F1 track. Sweet rides and hot laps? Yes please.
5. Petersen Museum Virtual Drive-In: July 25
If you have got a showstopping Corvette, enter it in this very cool event at the Petersen Museum. Participants can enter their car online and if chosen, it will be featured in the July 25 worldwide event. You’ve got the ride, now time to show it off.
4. Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance: August 15
Possibly one of the most prestigious events, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance showcases some of the most rare and historic automobiles, as well as concepts and new car debuts. Pebble Beach Automotive Week includes endless activities including the Tour d’Elegance. RetroAuto, and Classic Car Forum.
3. 25 Hours of Le Mans: August 21 – 22
Corvette racing returns to Le Mans with their secret weapon: the C8. Antonio Garcia and Oliver Gavin will be behind the wheel of Corvette Racing C8.R. This marks the first time a C8-generation Corvette racer will take to the famed track as last year’s event was cancelled. We can’t wait to see the brute in action.
2. Corvettes at Carlisle: August 26 – 28
Possibly the biggest Corvette car show is Corvettes at Carlisle. The annual event features thousands of Corvettes representing all generations of the sports car. In addition to the huge line-up of Corvettes; there will be activities including autocross, exhaust contests, seminars and more. Corvettes at Carlisle is diverse in the the cars and activities, offering something for everyone.
1. Route 66 Tour: September 23 – 27
As we come to the end of the list, we aren’t at the end of the road. CorvetteN’ America offers a driving tour of Route 66 and the Grand Canyon. “Every Corvette owner needs to drive it at least once” they say of the iconic American roadway. Drivers follow an 86-mile cruise on the longest continuous stretch of Route 66 in their own Corvette. America’s sports car hitting the classic road. Does it get any better?
