Will Lofty 2023 Corvette Z06 Pricing Affect Stingray Values?

With 2023 Corvette Z06 pricing cresting the $100k mark, will that cause even more people to look at a Stingray?

Just last week, GM finally released 2023 Corvette Z06 pricing after many months of anticipation, and needless to say, it was a bit higher than most expected – a starting MSRP of $106,395 with delivery charges included. The reactions to this lofty 2023 Corvette Z06 pricing have been largely negative, though many still plan on purchasing one of these amazing machines, and we have no doubt that GM will still have no problem selling every one it makes, even with the inevitable dealer shenanigans that will follow. This rather high level of pricing has raised another interesting question in the Corvette Forum, however – will it have any affect on the base Stingray, as folks who have been waiting for the Z06 and don’t want to pay the price to get one look elsewhere?

“With the release of Z06 pricing cause the C8 Stingrays to increase in value?” asked Cbrcr99. “From talking to lots of holders of Z06 deposits, the common belief (in my experience) was that the starting price would be between $85k and $90k. Now that we know the prices are much more than that, will we see people canceling their Z06 orders? If a nicely equipped 2LZ costs around $130k, what is the similarly equipped Z51 going to fetch?”

Opinions on this topic are decidedly mixed, though many believe that Z06 pricing will, at the very least, help keep current Stingray pricing afloat due to higher demand. “With the pricing of the Z06 higher than anticipated, the C8 market should stay strong, you won’t be seeing pricing go down much,” said Caymanspyder. “Of course, the 2020 models are now four years old, so you will see pricing become more obtainable but it still will be around the original MSRP. The newer model years will go for a higher price and they will hold strong. Once Z06 production starts, Stingray production will slow and create yet more demand. I think they are pumping out as many ’23 Stingrays as they can to fulfill the current demand before the Z06s start taking away from the Stingray production.”

If nothing else, it’s also a pretty safe bet that at least some Z06 place holders may flip and purchase a Stingray, paying a hefty markup in the process as they can still justify the fact that they’re saving some money. “I don’t think it increased but probably lengthened the current market/environment because some people are going to go on orders for the C8 SR versus the Z06 (due to higher than thought price). It also further strengthens the SR bang for buck price, and people hopping off a Z06 list may pay the $10-30K over MSRP market we are in,” said Z0Sick6.

All of this sounds pretty reasonable, but we’re curious to hear what you think about this interesting phenomenon. Will the Stingray go up in value or at least maintain its currently lofty secondary pricing, or will the Z06 have zero effect on the more affordable variant? Be sure and head over here to chime in on this hot topic!
