What Do You Think About the Forthcoming Corvette EV and E-Ray Hybrid?

As GM confirms the Corvette EV and hybrid, ‘Corvette Forum’ members sound off on the future of electrified performance.

The fact that General Motors is planning on building at least one and likely two electrified Corvette models has long been one of the worst kept secrets in the automotive world. After all, we’ve been treated to a host of rumors, speculation, and spy shots of possible hybrid Corvettes for years now, and GM itself recently asked existing owners how they feel about a Corvette EV. But the automaker didn’t confirm the existence of either until just a few days ago, and now, we’re interested to hear what fans of the iconic sports car think about its transition to electrification. Luckily, we don’t have to go any further than this thread at Corvette Forum.

For most, it’s a pretty bittersweet moment – a move that could pan out to be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. Many view the arrival of a Corvette EV in particular – which will come later, following the hybrid – as a sign that one day, there will be no more internal combustion-powered version of the long running model. “Here we go…the beginning of an ending,” said JockItch. “Sadly the end of an era, But great news for those who welcome the plug and drive Corvette,” added dvilin.

At the same time, some welcome the arrival of an electrified Corvette and are also curious as to how it might stack up, performance-wise, to the recently revealed Z06. “Will be interesting to see if this does happen in a year how it will change Z06 demand,” said C8Z06Frustrated. “I don’t expect my Z06 for another 18 months. At least I will be able to see the electric plans before i buy Z06.” “I just saw the teaser on Facebook. It has me hyped pretty hard for that car,” added ZEEOHSIX. “I’m gonna have to force myself to curtail my excitement, though. Because I’m not paying any ADM for a vehicle.”

Unsurprisingly, this thread has quickly blown up with hundreds of responses, though no one is terribly surprised by this news. However, it’s interesting to see the overall split opinion on whether or not electrifying the Corvette is a good thing or a bad thing.
