Very Interesting Torch Red C8 Z06 Spied by ‘Corvette Forum’ Member

This stripped-down Torch Red C8 Z06 has some interesting additions, as well as quite a few missing parts.

The 2023 Corvette Z06 was just revealed a couple of weeks ago, and we’ve seen plenty of GM-provided pics of both the base model and the more dressed-up Z07 Package thus far. But this is a highly-customizable car with a dozen exterior colors and half as many interior hues available, not to mention all sorts of other little options. Thus, this Torch Red C8 Z06 recently spotted by Corvette Forum member Corvette Nut is certainly interesting for what it has – and what it doesn’t.

For starters, the Torch Red C8 Z06 is wearing the black “flower” wheels, which we haven’t yet seen in the real world. However, there are some curious things missing from this particular prototype – most notably, badging, a rear wing, and carnards, though the rocker panel ground effects are present and accounted for. The front splitter is painted body color, interestingly enough.

It’s certainly a cool, clean look, as many other members point out, but there might be a very good reason for this odd combination of parts that are both present and missing. “It was probably a camo-wrapped car,” said smithers. “No badges and the wing or spoiler was removed during the camo removal and just weren’t put back on yet.”

Others point out that this is likely a pre-production model that isn’t complete, which is normal for prototypes. Regardless, opinions on this stripped-down Z06 lean mostly toward the positive side. It seems that quite a few folks prefer the basic look without some giant rear spoiler, which is interesting given how popular those sorts of things are these days. On the other hand, some members aren’t fans of both the color and the lack of body parts, but as they say, looks are subjective.

Regardless, it’s helpful to see real-world pictures of cars in various colors and configurations, because renderings and manufacturer photos tend to look quite a bit different than what we actually see with our own eyes, in the flesh.
