C8 Corvette Tron

Inspired by the groundbreaking movie from the early ’80s, this incredible C8 Corvette is impossible to ignore.

It’s hard to imagine today, but when the sci-fi action film Tron was released way back in 1982, it was quite simply mind-blowing. Computers were still a bit of a mystery to most at that time, and the idea of fighting programs to escape from a virtual world was something that proved rather intriguing. Coupled with some amazing visuals in one of the first movies in history to use extensive CGI, Tron went on to become a cult hit, spawn a remake in 2010, and inspire the creation of this very unique C8 Corvette owned by Tim Gundrum.

Starting with a plain old Rapid Blue C8 Corvette, Gundrum added a series of decals to the outside that are very Tron-like in nature, consisting of sharp lines finished in highlighter yellow. Those accents adorn a number of components on the exterior of this Corvette, including the front fascia, headlights, hood, roof, side intake vents, doors, wheels, and rear portions of the car, giving it a pretty cool look even in the daylight.

However, when the lights go off and the sun goes down, the real magic begins. This Corvette looks like it could quite literally have starred in a Tron movie, glowing in the dark in all the right places to create a truly stunning visual effect. It’s unlike anything we’ve seen, particularly in the Corvette world, and in case anyone doesn’t get the reference, the car also wears a “C8 Tron” license plate.

Of course, this kind of thing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and if you weren’t around back in the early 1980s, you may not get it at all. But given the intense fanbase Tron still enjoys today, we aren’t surprised that someone decided to pay homage to that film, as well as create one of the most unique C8s out there at the moment. And aside from the fact that Gundrum seems to be enjoying his creation, it’s clearly attracting a ton of attention everywhere it goes, too.
