A rebuilt 350 cubic inch V8 now sits under the hood of this one-owner 1963 Corvette Stingray Roadster. The motor produces over 400 HP of maximum power.

The C2 Corvette is one of the most popular classic sports car nameplates of all time. The car’s popularity inculcates a sense of community amongst its fans. We recently discussed a 1966 example that, with the help of Corvette Forum members, won a Top Flight chapter award at the MAC NCRS spring meet. In one of his recent videos, Lou Costabile offers an in-depth look at a 1963 Corvette Stingray roadster, which has 610K miles on the odometer.

Steve Stone is the proud owner of this breathtaking roadster. The owner joined Lou in Milwaukee at the 2022 World of Wheels car show to discuss his ride. This particular C2 Corvette is a one-owner car and has been in Steve’s position since he was 18 years old. This 1963 Corvette Stingray roadster flaunts a rich triple black paint job. On October 1, 2012, Steve Stone clocked half a million miles on the odometer by driving his C2 ‘Vette across all lower 48 states.

This Stingray Roadster’s new motor hooks up to a four-speed manual gearbox and an aftermarket side-exit exhaust system.

In its day, this ’63 Corvette Stingray did see its fair share of action even though it is in showroom-like condition. Over the years, the car has been involved in some traffic collisions. As a result of this, the front end of this roadster’s been replaced a few times. A 350 cubic inch V8 motor now propels this classic sports car because Steve had to replace the original motor after 400,000 miles.

Under the hood, we find the original Harrison can and custom radiators for effective thermal management. Steve also explains why he chose to install a new engine. “It (original motor) was uh tired, but it’s too much compression, explains Steve.

He further adds, “it’s originally 11 and a quarter to one compression, and now I’m running ten to one.” The owner has already clocked 206,000 miles on the refurbished motor. Interestingly enough, Steve also does not plan to retire his classic sports car, and the owner intends to continue driving his ‘Vette all the way up to the million mark.
