This ’91 Corvette Callaway Twin Turbo is One of a Kind

There is only one yellow 1991 Corvette Callaway Twin Turbo in the world, and this is it!

Callaway Corvettes have an air of mad genius about them. Long before they offered supercharger kits for the LS motor, turbocharging C4s put Callaway Cars on the map. Built from 1987 to 1991 their twin turbo Vettes created a sensation. And it’s easy to see why with this Twin Turbo Convertible for sale on Bring a Trailer.

Modified by Callaway Engineering, the 5.7-liter L98 V8 gets stronger internal components in addition to the twin turbochargers and intercoolers. When new, this engine produced 402 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of torque. That’s over 50% more than the Corvette’s stock output! While not as impressive as the SledgeHammer’s 898 horsepower, it’s potent enough for a top speed of 191 mph.

Callaway also produced an AeroBody kit for the C4. It included custom front and rear treatments, side vents and 17 inch custom wheels. The seller notes that this Corvette is 1 of 25 that received the AeroBody package in 1991, and the only one painted yellow. The kit really adds some flair, making the car stand out against the regular C4 and ZR-1.

Chevrolet redesigned the Corvette’s interior in 1990 adding an airbag equipped steering wheel and new dashboard with analog gauges. Those changes carried over for 1991. The Callaway’s interior remained stock, with the exception of a boost gauge. Amenities include six-way power-adjustable sport seats, automatic climate control, power windows, and power heated mirrors. The Corvette’s FX3 Selective Ride Control is also included, allowing the driver to change settings with a toggle switch on the center console.

From 1987 to 1991 you could order a Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette straight from the factory using the B2K order code. It’s one of the only third party custom packages you could order from GM, and the only one covered by a 12-month warranty. Callaway produced 510 Twin Turbo Corvettes over a five year period, making them very rare.

The most incredible thing about the Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette is the performance. But it doesn’t transform the nature of the C4. It enhances it, building off the C4’s strengths. Rarely does a tuner package accomplish that. The Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette retains the C4’s drivability while adding an afterburner. It’s a rare beast.
