In addition to having an LS1 V8 powertrain, this 1976 Chevrolet Corvette C3 restomod rides on a bespoke Protourerarage hybrid chassis.

Restomodding a beloved classic car can be quite a daunting challenge, as it is very easy for one to go awry while building a passion project. Earlier last month, we came across one of the strangest C3 Corvette restomods to ever hit the auction blocks. More recently, we found an elusive 1976 Corvette C3 restomod which will make a great addition to any car collection.

The car we have here is currently up for sale on the classic and collectible car auctions website The Market by Bonhams. Hungarian outfit Protourergarage is responsible for creating this sublime 1976 Corvette restomod. In addition to building show cars for SEMA, the company also specializes in building pro-touring Corvettes for the European markets. Safe to say, the Portuguese outfit knows its way around a Corvette restomod.

The car we have here is a product of half a decade-long “research and investment .” For this creation, Protourergarage married the body shell of in 1976 C3 ‘Vette with the hardware of a C5. A formidable 5.7-liter LS1 V8 motor sits under the hood of this ‘Vette. According to the listing, the powerplant can churn out 380 HP of maximum power.

At 380 HP, this LS1 motor produces 200 horsepower more than the C3 Corvette’s original 5.7-liter L48 motor.

The engine is hooked up to custom-built twin-exhaust downpipes. A C6 Corvette’s 6-speed manual transaxle sends power to the rear wheels. Furthermore, the stopping power comes from a C6 Z51 brake setup. According to the listing, the vehicle has only been driven for around 1240 miles since completion.

The front end of this ‘76 Corvette restomod sits on a pair of 18-inch rims, whereas the rear rides on a 19-inch set up, both of which come from a Centennial Edition C6 Corvette. As a result, Protourergarage had to tweak the fiberglass body to accommodate the bigger wheels. The car sports a vibrant Ford Tangerine Scream Pearl paint job which helps it stand out. Right now, the leading bid stands at around $17,000 (£ 12,500), and the auction ends on February 22.
