It won’t be used in high speed chases, but this C7 Corvette Z06 does play an important role in the community.

When we think of police vehicles, we typically think of things like giant sedans or crossovers fitted with lights and liveries, but that isn’t always the case, of course. Throughout history, law enforcement has also utilized some odd and even exotic vehicles to chase baddies, in some cases, vehicles capable of tracking down criminals at high speeds. But that isn’t the case with this C7 Corvette Z06 recently seized by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, however.

Rather, this C7 Corvette Z06 will be used for community engagement and helping to recruit future members of the police force, riding around town and appearing at events specifically for those reasons. The 2017 model year car was originally seized from a suspect facing felony charges, which makes its future deployment all the more ironic and interesting.

Of course, there’s no mistaking the Z06 for some sort of drug runner these days, as the Escambia Country Sheriff’s Office has transformed it into a proper police car thanks to its unique livery, which features the department’s logo, along with the Blue Angels, which are based in Florida, and even Don Tristan de Luna, a Spanish conquistador who arrived in that same area way back in 1599. Throw in some emergency lighting, and you’ve got yourself a properly equipped law enforcement vehicle.

Of course, this C7 could easily be used by the department in that manner if they so desired, as its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 was originally rated to crank out a healthy 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. That would be more than enough to chase down just about any kind of car a criminal might want to make their hasty getaway in, but it seems as if in this particular case, this Corvette is more of a show car than something that will ever see duty.

Regardless, it’s an interesting and unique vehicle for certain, and those that choose to break the law in this particular part of Florida can breathe easy that they won’t be seeing it in their rear-view mirror.
