This poor 2022 Corvette suffered some kind of undercarriage damage, meaning it’s a risk or reward proposition.

While many prospective C8 Corvette buyers are still sitting in a proverbial line and awaiting their chance to purchase a brand new mid-engine sports car, others are paying top dollar on the used car market. The third alternative, of course, is to buy a salvage car and fix it up, but that’s always a risky proposition. Such a move can also pay off big time, however, and that may or not be the opportunity presented by this poor 2022 Corvette going up for grabs at Copart.

With just 358 miles on the clock, this 2022 Corvette wasn’t even really broken in before the owner apparently did something to cause unspecified damage to the undercarriage. Perhaps they drove over something, like a curb, or maybe there was something in the road that caused this damage. Either way, it’s difficult to tell from these photos exactly what has happened, nor what kind of damage there is, save for the bashed-up rear strut towers visible in the photos.

Otherwise, this 2022 Corvette could be mistaken for one that just rolled off the showroom floor, mainly because it did. The bodywork looks to be in great condition, and that includes the front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser. It’s unclear why the insurer deemed this C8 unworthy of repair, and that could be a good thing or a bad thing for the new owner. If the company made a mistake and the damage isn’t too terrible, someone could get a bargain. If it really is that bad, it may turn out to be incredibly expensive to repair.

Regardless, such is the roll of the dice that buying a salvaged car represents. Copart lists this 2LT’s estimated retail value at just north of $108k, which is seemingly much higher than its MSRP, so it might be going by the C8’s inflated used car prices right now. But that doesn’t really matter, as it’s the bidders who will ultimately determine what this poor Corvette is really worth.
