Rumors of a Corvette EV SUV have swirled for years, and now, this sketch has surfaced on GM’s official design page.
For years now, the Corvette has been riddled with rumors revolving around the possibility that GM might eventually spin off the iconic sports car into its own brand, adding a high-performance crossover or SUV to that newly minted lineup. Then there’s the seemingly confirmed speculation pointing toward the launch of an eventual all-electric version of the Corvette, which seems pretty much destined to happen at this point. But now, the official General Motors Design Instagram page has given us a sneak peek at what a future Corvette EV SUV might look like, interestingly enough.
Of course, GM doesn’t come out and call this sketch a Corvette EV SUV, but it sure looks like it could be. Just take a gander at the vehicle’s swoopy, high-riding sports car-like styling, which just so happens to feature a set of black boomerangs on the side. It’s pretty obvious where we’ve seen that little design touch before (cough…C8), though the rest of the vehicle doesn’t look much like the current eighth-get model, at least.
This particular sketch was dreamed up by Jason Chen, a creative designer at General Motors, so it’s a legit piece of art, not just something that a fan came up with, which is often the case. Of course, GM’s designers create stuff like this all the time as part of potential design studies, but there’s more than enough smoke here for somebody to call the potential of a Corvette EV SUV an actual fire.
Multiple outlets have reported that GM is indeed working on creating a Corvette SUV over the past few years, much in the vein that Ford attached its iconic Mustang nameplate to the all-electric crossover that is the Mach-E. It would make perfect sense if this drawing depicts Chen’s idea of such a machine, though we obviously can’t confirm that.

It’s unclear if a high-riding family-hauling Corvette will ever see the light of day, but it certainly wouldn’t be surprising. After all, even Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin, and soon Ferrari sell some sort of crossover-like vehicle, so why wouldn’t GM follow suit and chase those potential sales in what is certainly a profitable market?
