Aside from being the greatest basketball player in history, Michael Jordan also had a thing for Corvettes.

Ask any, or at least most any, basketball fan who the greatest player of all-time is, and most will say the same thing without hesitation – Michael Jordan. The legendary, passionate, and truly gifted player-turned-highly successful shoe salesmen hit the NBA and never looked back, leading the Bulls to six championships and earning countless individual accolades along the way. But Michael Jordan was also a huge Corvette fan, it turns out, capitalizing on his endorsement deal with Chevrolet to help the C4 rise to stardom as well.

That much is evident to anyone who has seen the 10-part ESPN documentary dubbed The Last Dance, which documents Jordan’s final championship run with the Bulls before the proverbial wheels came off and he decided to abruptly retire. The critically-accalimed series has more than its fair share of memorable moments, but it also shows off Jordan’s love for cars in general, as well as the many Corvettes he owned during this time period.

Michael Jordan Corvette

From the second he joined the league, Jordan was driving some sort of Corvette, though the scenes don’t exactly happen in chronological order. Much of this can be attributed to the fact that MJ signed an endorsement deal with a group of Chicagoland/Northwest Indiana Chevrolet dealers fresh out of college, an agreement that he would stick with for many years, even after he had won multiple NBA championships.

As a result, Jordan drove a number of Corvettes over the years, including more than one C4 and a couple of C4 ZR1s, all of which make an appearance in The Last Dance. He can also be seen pulling up to practice in a black C5. One of the more entertaining scenes from the series, however, shows Jordan stopping his Torch Red 1994 ZR1 in the middle of the road to sign a kid’s ball before taking back off in a spirited fashion.

After his first retirement and a stint in baseball with the Chicago White Sox, Jordan returned to the Bulls in similar fashion – behind the wheel of a rare Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Edition Corvette ZR1. If nothing else, it’s clear that Jordan is a life-long Chevy and Corvette fan, one who puzzlingly made cheesy car commercials even after he became the greatest basketball player in history. If that isn’t love, well, we don’t know what is.
