As the Lime Rock Historic Festival celebrates 40 years, it has assembled a once in a lifetime display of Corvette concept cars.

2022 is a special year for both the Lime Rock Park Historic Festival and the Corvette, as the former is celebrating its 40th year and the latter is on the cusp of celebrating 70 years. Thus, the 2022 Lime Rock Park Historic Festival – which takes place over Labor Day weekend, September 1-5 – will feature something extra special for fans of GM’s iconic sports car – the first ever gathering of 12 historic Corvette concepts, all in one place.

Concepts have played a critical role in the Corvette’s history since the very beginning, with many of them foreshadowing the sport car’s future styling direction. Thus, it makes perfect sense that Lime Rock would want to gather as many as possible in one place to mark its special anniversary, as well as the Corvette’s nearly seven decades in existence. The dozen concepts on display at this year’s Historic Festival have been gathered from the GM Heritage Center, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, and various private collections to come together for the very first time.

“Through now eight generations, Corvette has been a leader in design and engineering,” said Phil Zak, Executive Design Director Global Chevrolet. “This extensive display of Corvette history will highlight the wide variety of ideas and innovations leading up the current mid-engine C8.”

So far, Lime Rock has confirmed that this special display will include the 1956 Corvette SR-2, designed by the “Fathers of the Corvette” Harley Earl and Zora Arkus-Duntov, the 1957 Corvette SS (XP-84), the first purpose-built Corvette racer, as well as the 1959 Corvette Sting Ray Racer (XP-87), 1961 Corvette Mako Shark, both the CERV I and CERV II, the 1969 Corvette Manta Ray, 1968 Astro II (XP880), 1972 Reynolds Aluminum Corvette, 1986 Corvette Indy, 1990 CERV III, 1992 Stingray III and the 2009 Corvette Sting Ray Concept.
