GM Shows Us the Proper Way to Detail a C8 Corvette
While most of us are well-versed in this process, this video of a C8 Corvette cleaning is quite satisfying to watch.
Most of us have been automotive enthusiasts our entire lives, which also means that we’re probably pretty maniacal about the art of cleaning and maintaining them. Most of us have spend many hours scrubbing every little crack and crevice of our beloved rides and given ourselves blisters polishing them, all for the sake of ensuring that those vehicles look their best at all times. Regardless, the latest video in the Chevy MyWay series covers the process of detailing a C8 Corvette, and it’s worth checking out no matter how much of a car cleaning expert you consider yourself to be.
This particular guide takes more of a step-by-step approach to detailing a C8 Corvette to get it ready for anything from a car show to showing off during a trip to the grocery store. That process starts with a proper rinse with de-ionized water, which ensures that you won’t get any nasty smells or water spots while also achieving better chemical dilution. After spraying the C8 Corvette with pre-wash solution, let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing that off.
In this particular case, our hosts use Adam’s car wash to clean this C8, as well last that company’s bug remover and wheel cleaner before drying it with pressurized air and microfiber towels. With the basic wash out of the way, the next step is to hit everything with detail spray, cover all of the windows with glass cleaner, and apply some tire shine to the tires.
The final step in this process is to tidy up the interior, a job that includes vacuuming up any dirt or debris before wiping down all the plastic and leather and treating it with different products. In this case, the team also wipes down every other surface with a microfiber towel.
It’s a simple process that most of us are quite familiar with, but this video is still quite satisfying to watch, since we personally find it satisfying to see a vehicle go from dirty to sparkling clean. One could also get far more detailed and add steps like polish and ceramic coating, but most of the time, a good wash is all it takes to get a C8 Corvette looking its best.
