Dollar for dollar, this C7 ZR1 seems like a good value and has already been built with the best parts available.

While the C8 Corvette gets pretty much all the press these days, let’s not forget about the one-year wonder that is the C7 ZR1. The literal swan song for the seventh-generation Corvette is a pretty amazing car right out of the box, offering up 755 horsepower in a sweet-looking package. However, the C7 ZR1 is also a popular candidate for some pretty crazy builds, and that includes this heavily modified example up for grabs at Chicago Motor Cars.

From the factory, this Shadow Gray Metallic beauty had plenty to offer, but the previous owner decided that simply wasn’t enough. Now, it’s a beastly ride with a full array of mods, most of which have taken place under the hood. There, you’ll find a 390 cubic-inch sleeved Darton engine, which has been fitted with a laundry list of upgrades including Diamond pistons, Callies rods, CID heads, ATI pulleys, Speed Engineering headers, a custom BTR cam, and a ported blower from Synergy Motorsports.

All of that is good enough for a whopping 1,071 dyno-proven horsepower at the wheels on VP X85 fuel, which is obviously a lot. That sort of output also requires some beefy components behind it, and this ZR1 has those as well, in the form of an ATI-built transmission with hardened input and output shafts, a Circle D converter, a Driveshaft Shop driveshaft and axles, and an RPM Transmissions rear differential.

To help try and get the car’s 1,000+ horsepower to the ground, the previous owner completed a 15-inch wheel conversion out back and added beadlocks with sticky rubber, which is complemented by 20-inch front wheels with skinnier tires. Of course, the original wheels and tires come with the car as well, which are a bit more pleasant for street use.

In addition to this host of mechanical upgrades, the C7 ZR1 also features a full XPel satin wrap on the outside for a more understated look, while the inside is all-business with Sparco SPX seats and all the requisite carbon fiber trim that came from the factory.

With just 4,100 miles on the clock, this ZR1 hasn’t been driven a whole lot, and we imagine many of those came one quarter at a time. And though the asking price is a pretty substantial $179,800, one would have a pretty hard time replicating this extensive build for less.
