Crazy C8 Corvette Crash Leaves Pickup Sitting on Its Roof
This latest C8 Corvette crash occurred after the driver tried to pass three cars at once, but things went horribly wrong.
Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen more than one C8 Corvette crash, but they’ve all been pretty different. Some have left the poor mid-engine machine looking like a scrap head, while others were minor in nature. At least one C8 Corvette crash in recent memory wasn’t the owner’s fault, while others are simply caused by poor driving or driving in a manner not suitable for public roads. Unfortunately, that appears to be the case with this new crash, which took place recently on Point Reyes-Petaluma Road outside of San Francisco.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the C8 driver attempted to pass three slower-moving vehicles at a high rate of speed, which isn’t all that unusual. However, the Toyota pickup that was at the front of this pack was trying to turn left around the same time, and the Corvette driver apparently didn’t see that until it was too late. Moving at high speed, there apparently wasn’t enough time to react, and the C8 struck the driver’s side of the older pickup.
The impact was so great that it flipped the Toyota over on its roof, which is pretty insane. Luckily, the three occupants of the truck only suffered “minor to moderate” injuries, but were still transported to the hospital as a precaution. Meanwhile, the C8 driver was treated on scene for their minor injuries, while the Corvette at least held up very nicely. The front end is clearly gone, but from the photos, the car looks very fixable, anyway.
The Corvette driver was issued a citation for his unsafe driving, though things could have obviously been much, much worse. No drugs or alcohol were involved this time around, just poor judgment and a bit of impatience were enough to cause a pretty hairy-looking wreck that could have been easily avoided, even if we know all too well how slow-moving traffic can quickly make a nice cruise turn a bit stressful.
