After two cars tried to merge into one lane, a Corvette driver crossed the proverbial line and now faces charges.

As folks get back on the roads and commute to the office following a couple years of working from home, we’re starting to see more accidents and more good old fashioned road rage incidents. Obviously, it doesn’t pay to lose your cool in traffic, no matter how moronic someone might be acting out on the roadway. But things truly boiled over during a road rage incident in Chesterfield Township, Michigan recently when a Corvette driver shot a pepper ball gun at another vehicle, according to Click on Detroit.

The Corvette driver and another person in a sedan were reportedly both trying to merge in a construction zone, where the road goes from two lanes to one. It’s unclear exactly what happened or who might be at fault, but whatever it was, the Corvette driver was clearly enraged, as he reportedly pulled out a pepper ball gun and began shooting it at the sedan. The driver told police he did so because he was “concerned for his safety.”

The driver of the sedan clearly didn’t know that he was merely being fired at by a pepper ball gun and not a real one, as they called police and noted that the Corvette owner had fired a weapon of some sort at his sedan, leaving some minor damage behind. However it went down, Chesterfield Township Police sided with the sedan driver, impounding the poor Corvette, confiscating the unusual weapon, and arresting its driver.

Now, the Corvette driver is facing a litany of charges including assault and reckless driving, which isn’t a huge surprise. But this wild incident does serve as a nice reminder that road rage incidents can get quite hairy, if not particularly dangerous, and it’s better to just simply take a deep breath and move on. After all, no on-road argument is worth losing your freedom, clean record, or Corvette over.
