C8 Corvette Z06 Benchmarked Against Exotics in Leaked Competitive Comparison

This document makes a case for the C8 Corvette Z06 over the R8, 720S, F8, and 911 GT3 in some interesting ways.

It’s no secret that the C8 Corvette Z06 is going to be a world-beater, packing the most powerful production naturally-aspirated V8 in history, along with a host of other engineering wizardry. We don’t yet know how much the new Z06 will cost, but it’s also a pretty safe bet that its MSRP will undercut pretty much everything with similar performance, a group that includes some seriously exotic machinery. This leaked competitive comparison between the C8 Corvette Z06 certainly makes that case, and was recently posted in the Corvette Forum forums by member soulsea.

This competitive comparison shows us that GM might have had a few specific targets in mind when it was developing the C8 Corvette Z06, including the Ferrari F8, McLaren 70S, Audi R8, and Porsche 911 GT3. This document breaks down the pros and cons of each model, making a case for the Corvette over all of them, however. It’s unclear if this is an official GM document, but it certainly looks like something that was conjured up to convince owners of other brands to make the switch, as it even contains talking points for salespeople to use.

There are some missing details here, including the Z06’s price and top speed, which haven’t yet been revealed. That list also includes fuel economy, and interestingly enough, the document notes that this is precisely one of the R8’s cons, as it returns “just” 14 miles-per-gallon in the city and 23 on the highway, which would seem to indicate that the C8 Z06 will top those figures.

Otherwise, the most obvious benefit the Z06 has over its exotic competition is price. The Ferrari F8 retails for a whopping $302,000, the McLaren 720S at $281,000, the Audi R8 at over $200,000, and the Porsche 911 GT3 at $160,000, though the document doesn’t mention that tidbit of information for the Porsche.

In terms of performance, the document notes that the C8 Z06 is “much quicker” than the Porsche, has “comparable performance” to the Ferrari, and possesses power that “greatly exceeds” what the Audi provides. The document doesn’t say the same about the McLaren, but weighs just 3,100 pounds and churns out 710 horsepower, so that isn’t a huge surprise. Regardless, it’s certainly interesting to see this document making a case for the new Z06 over some pretty lofty competition, though that battle will soon be waged in the real world – not just on paper.
