C8 Corvette Stingray Base Model Is Now Supply Constrained, Too

The C8 Corvette Stingray Base model is the latest to face the wrath of a broken supply chain.

The C8 Corvette continues to face a number of supply constraints, a common issue among all automobiles these days with things like chips and various other features proving difficult to come by. That currently includes Rear Park Assist, the ZZ3 Engine Appearance and Lighting Package, the 5ZZ Carbon Flash High Wing Spoiler, and FE2/FE4 Magnetic Ride Control. Now, a number of Corvette Forum members are also reporting that they’ve been informed the C8 Corvette Stingray base model is also constrained, prompting many to opt for the Z51 Package in an effort to take delivery of their new sports cars sooner.

“We have just been informed that the standard Stingray Package (non-Z51 Package car ) is now on constraint along with Magnetic Ride Control for either package and could be on constraint until further notice,” MattMD‘s dealer told him via a message. “We do not know how long this constraint is going to last. There is a very small amount of availability of non-Z51 Package cars and Magnetic Ride Control nationally.”

The OP certainly isn’t alone in this regard, as many other order holders are apparently facing the same problem. “Yea got the same message. That’s a bummer. Didn’t want the Z51 but oh well,” said AceG. “Got the same message, added rogue3standingby. “Don’t know, I need to think about it. My car fund was already parked in VTI which has tanked in the last few weeks and now adding another $6k. I can do it, but damn, this car is essentially like 30% more expensive now than it was going to be a couple of months ago. On the other hand, I was already doing NPP, so the net difference is closer to $5k. My guess is deferring to 2023 is going to cost $5k just for price bump and getting nothing extra.”

It’s certainly alarming for order holders that GM is putting an entire model – the C8 Corvette Stingray Base – on constraint rather than an individual option or feature, as well as the fact that it isn’t sure how long this constraint will last. But at the same time, it also isn’t a terribly surprising development, given the fact that the broken supply chain hasn’t shown any signs of improvement over the past several weeks, despite the fact that these problems have been going on for a couple of years now.
