This particular C6 ZR1 is essentially brand new and was owned by former racer Bobby Fisher.
The C6 ZR1 may be a decade or so old at this point, but it’s still an impressively quick machine, which tells you everything you need to know about how amazing it was when it originally launched. Famously difficult to tame, the C6 ZR1 is an old-school hammer in a world of sports cars hampered by electronic nannies, and today, it’s becoming quite popular with collectors for that very reason. As such, this 2010 Corvette ZR1 up for grabs at Bring a Trailer is drawing plenty of interest, but it’s not just any old regular example of GM’s “Blue Devil.”
For starters, this ZR1 was originally purchased and owned by former NASCAR driver Bobby Fisher, who kept it until 2020, when it was sold to the current owner. One might think that a NASCAR hot shoe would find a car like this to be irresistible to drive, but that apparently wasn’t the case at all, because it only has 271 original miles. As such, the Torch Red exterior looks absolutely perfect, and there are simply no flaws to be found anywhere else, either.
This bone stock C6 is pretty much as one might expect, too, with all of its special ZR1 bits and pieces intact, including the carbon-fiber roof, front splitter, rocker sill extensions, and hood, which contains a polycarbonate window to show off what lies underneath. The ZR1 rolls on a set of staggered 19- and 20-inch aluminum wheels wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 285/30 up front and 335/25 out back, which cover six- and four-piston Brembo calipers and cross-drilled carbon-ceramic rotors.
Inside the cabin, this ZR1 features GM’s 3ZR Premium Equipment Group, which adds a host of goodies including Dark Titanium leather covering the heated and power-adjustable sport bucket seats, dashboard, door panels, and center console, as well as carbon-fiber trim, a head-up display, and a Bose seven-speaker sound system.
Like all C6 ZR1s, this one is powered by GM’s supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8, which was originally rated to produce a still-impressive 638 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque. That power flows to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, making for one heck of a thrill ride. The fact that this particular thrill ride has barely any miles on it and famous ownership history, well, that just makes it even more special than it already was.
