Body-off Restored Big Block 1967 Corvette Is Perfection on Wheels
This restored big block 1967 Corvette convertible has received a host of recent awards.
One could argue that any big block second-gen Corvette is something truly special worth celebrating, and we wouldn’t argue with you. But as is the case with everything in life, some are better than others, and this big block 1967 Corvette convertible up for grabs at Bring a Trailer certainly ranks in the upper echelon of GM’s fine creation, thanks to a nice combination of equipment, colors, and a recent body-off restoration that has it looking quite stunning.
This Marina Blue beauty looks no worse for wear after its refurbishment six years ago but did have the driver-side rear quarter panel replaced at some point back in the 1970s. The car’s hardtop was also refinished and fitted with new black vinyl, which has it looking good as new. The rest of the exterior shines with side exhaust pipes, a stinger striped hood, and 15-inch Rally wheels wrapped with Goodyear redline tires for a timeless look.
The matching Bright Blue interior is in equally stunning condition, with features including lap belts, a Delco AM/FM radio, power-assisted steering, and a wood-rim steering wheel that helps break up the sea of blue. The odometer shows 60k miles, but the actual mileage is unknown. Underneath, a set of four-wheel discs fitted with a GM J50 power-assisted booster provide stopping power for the big power big block that rests under the hood.
In this case, that particular engine is GM’s L36 427 cubic-inch V8, which was originally rated to produce 390 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The numbers-matching engine sends that power to the rear wheels via a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission and a rear differential fitted with 3.70:1 gears.
All of that work clearly paid off, because this big-block 1967 Corvette has racked up a number of awards in the last year along, including Bloomington Gold certification, an NCRS Regional Top Flight award, MCACN Gold, Concourse Gold, and Triple Diamond certification. Now, it’s up for grabs looking for a new home, and we have no doubt it will find one in due haste – at a price, of course.
