Over a decade later, this C6 era Corvette ZR1 has 17,000 miles upon its supercharged LS9 V8, with plenty more miles to burn to come.

If there’s one ultimate Corvette, it’s the ZR1. It has the best of everything, turned up to 11. The greatest performance, the latest tech, the finest materials, all wrapped in one stunning package. Ever since the first one arrived for the 1990 model year, the ZR1 has served as the halo car of the Corvette fellowship.

In the darkness of the Great Recession, the C6 era welcomed its own ZR1 into the world, one with a Blue Devil heart. One such ZR1 from 2011 recently popped up on Bring a Trailer, proving things improve with age.

This ZR1, draped in Blade Silver Metallic, was sold by one of the biggest Corvette dealers in the U.S., Coughlin Chevrolet in Pataskala, Ohio. In 2015, it found a home with its current owner, who took it to Washington state before landing in California. The ‘Vette comes with the 3ZR Premium Equipment group, Brembo ceramic brakes, and paint protection film upon its snoot (can’t have those rocks chip away at the stone, after all).

Of course, one part of the ZR1 is proudly displayed under the Lexan: the 6.9-liter LS9 V8. Topped by a Duke Blue Devil blue and silver Eaton supercharger, the big V8 sends 638 horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque to the rear 20-inch wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle. A dual-mode exhaust system modulates the roar, keeping things quiet (relatively speaking) while leaving the neighborhood in the morning, then letting loose on the highway. Just over 17,000 miles have been logged by the LS9 thus far.

Under the carbon fiber roof, the ZR1’s 3ZR Premium Equipment package shines with power-adjustable and heated black leather seats with the ZR1 name stitched upon the headrest. More black leather graces the dash, which houses a HUD, infotainment system, and carbon fiber trim.

Though over a decade old now, this ZR1 has more than enough life in it. So long as there are open roads and open gas stations, nothing will stop this ‘Vette from leaving a pair of black marks on the two-lane blacktop.
