Are These Oddly Placed Hood Pins the Dumbest Corvette Mod Ever?

Putting pins on the front of a rear opening hood is pretty dumb, but is it the dumbest Corvette mod ever?

One of the most appealing things about automobiles has always been the fact that we can customize them to our own taste. Unfortunately, not everyone has good taste or even good sense, which had led to some seriously weird and sometimes downright offensive modified vehicles over the years. But while we’ve seen some really dumb stuff in our time, Corvette Forum member Budarooski thinks that he’s found the dumbest Corvette mod ever, and he might just be right.

“Seriously…hood pins on the FRONT of a rear opening hood? Am I missing something here?” he expressed while providing photographic evidence of this crime. And sure enough, the Corvette mod in question is indeed a pair of functional hood pins located at the front of the hood, which is, of course, hinged at the front. Photos of the open hood confirm this fact, and it hasn’t been converted to a lift-off hood, which might have explained this puzzling decision.

As one might imagine, this post stirred up some pretty humorous responses from other Corvette Forum members, too. “Hood pins easily add 10 horsepower per pin,” said juicebox. “I don’t know what you all are complaining about. These front clips are required because of the recently installed low restriction roller muffler bearings,” added Dutch08. “I’d say that’s up there on the dumbest mod list for sure but don’t forget caliper covers…the dumbest mod of them all,” said MaxPlusTen.
