800 HP 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Yenko/SC Is One of Just 21 Built
Reviving a legendary name from GM’s performance past, this ultra-rare 2017 Corvette Yenko/SC is both powerful and special.
Yenko is an iconic name in the Bow Tie world thanks to the Canonsburg, Pennsylvania dealership of the same name that cranked out high-performance muscle cars that have since become some of the most coveted and collectible ever produced. Many years later, the Yenko name was resurrected by Special Vehicle Engineering, which began cranking out new Yenko Corvettes a few years ago that could be ordered directly from a Chevrolet dealer. However, very few were built in total, and this 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Yenko/SC up for grabs at Bring a Trailer is indeed a very rare bird.
SVE planned on building 50 examples of the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Yenko/SC, but wound up producing just 21 of them in this particular model year. Much of that was likely due to the cost – on top of the price of the donor C7, this car has an additional $47,995 worth of equipment added, which is obviously a lot. Regardless, this one also has just 2,200 miles on the odometer, and is a super cool, super rare, and rather powerful and special example of a seventh-gen Corvette.
On the outside, this Admiral Blue beauty has those iconic white Yenko stripes adorning its flanks, along with the requisite badging and a set of Grand Sport wheels with SYC center caps. Otherwise, there’s no clue as to what’s going on under the hood, save for Yenko-branded brake calipers. The same goes for the interior, which features SYC-embroidered headrests, Yenko-logo floor mats, Yenko door sill plates, and a console-mounted plaque that identifies this example as the fourth one built.
The real magic lies under the hood, where GM’s 6.8-liter LT1-V8 has been treated to a 2.9-liter supercharger, ported and polished cylinder heads, a forged rotating assembly, and an LT4 fuel system. Those upgrades are good enough to push output all the way up to 800 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential.
While it may not be a true 1970s Yenko masterpiece, this C7 revamp is certainly rare, special, and far more powerful than any old fashioned GM vehicle bearing that famous name. Thus, we have no doubt that it will command top dollar at auction, which appears to be the case as it has already generating a bit of a bidding frenzy.
