This restored 1966 Corvette recently scored its first award, and its owner is very appreciative of the help he received.

While much of the press these days goes to newer Corvettes like the C7 or C8, a large number of Corvette Forum members are into the old stuff, too. It’s hard to blame them, since the first two-three generations of America’s sports car are among the most attractive vehicles ever produced by anyone. But Corvette Forum members are also quick to help others with advice, parts, and anything else they might need while restoring old cars too, which is precisely the case with this recently-finished 1966 Corvette owned by a member who calls himself bauto, or Bob Peckham in real life.

“I want to thank all the members who have shared their knowledge, sold me parts, helped me solve issues, and became friends along the way,” Peckham said. “I don’t want to name you all because I will probably leave someone out, but you know who you are. As a result of these actions I took the finally completed 1966 Corvette roadster to the MAC NCRS spring meet and was lucky enough to score a Top Flight chapter award. Thank you again to all that helped along the journey.”

It’s been a long ride for Peckham and his gorgeous 1966 Corvette convertible, which he originally purchased from a forum member back in 2019. At that time, the car was in solid shape but wasn’t perfect by any means. Peckham intended to restore it from the start, but wasn’t planning on going as far as he did. At the time, it had been 40 years since he had owned a C2 Corvette, so he hit the forums seeking advice on a number of topics.

Along the way, Peckham got advice on all sorts of things, including the shifter, parking brake handle, interior, wheels, and a host of other bits and pieces. He also bought and sold a ton of parts in the Corvette Forum marketplace to help keep his build going in the right direction. Needless to say, all that work paid off in the end, because his car turned out pretty amazing.

Peckham certainly reaped all the benefits of becoming a Corvette Forum member, and has made a ton of new friends along the way. If that sounds like something you would be interested in experiencing, you can sign up for free by heading over here!
