This beautiful 1965 Corvette restomod was just finished, and it has the perfect mix of new and old.

Retro Designs – a custom shop out of Concord, North Carolina – has been churning out some pretty amazing vehicles over the past few years, including more than one Corvette. That’s also the case with their latest creation – this 1965 Corvette restomod that was just finished, and it combines the C2’s classic lines with just the right amount of modern upgrades and a seriously cool paint color to create one of the nicer builds we’ve seen in some time.

While the body of this 1965 Corvette restomod was left mostly alone, save for a set of Beyern Spartan wheels and Nitto Motivo tires, that isn’t the case with anything underneath. It now rides on a custom Street Shop C7-based chassis that also has that same gen’s suspension setup, which consists of coilers with an independent rear suspension. Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners help slow it down in a hurry, too.

Power for this modernized C2 comes from a naturally-aspirated LS3 V8, which produces a very reasonable 430 horsepower right out of the box. It sends power to the rear wheels via a six-speed gearbox, and breathes through a three-inch stainless steel exhaust. This new/old theme continues inside the cabin, where you’ll find a very tidy black leather setup that stays true to the original, yet adds a few modern conveniences such as a new Bluetooth sound system. The results of all this work, well, they speak for themselves, and we imagine that the owner will be quite happy with his new ride.

“Our goal at Retro Designs is to bring classic cars back to life and allow clients to enjoy them safely without any of the issues that can come up with driving a vintage restoration,” said Retro Designs General Manager Daniel Valjevac. “Our new 1965 C2 Sting Ray is a car that came to us from a client that wanted a custom with all the beautiful styling of the C2 in a car that could be driven in modern conditions. Our goal is to join impeccable restoration with modern performance that delivers all the smiles and fun that can be had out there on the road today.”
