This 1965 Corvette convertible doesn’t have a laundry list of mods, but to us, that’s what makes it so great.

The C2 Corvette stands alone as one of the greatest automotive designs in history, a truly beautiful car that has rare universal appeal. And yet, there are folks out there that try and improve upon this utter perfection in a variety of ways. Some take a more subtle approach and simply add things like wheels or perhaps a custom paint job, while other choose to hack up the C2’s fiberglass body panels in an effort to stand out. This 1965 Corvette convertible up for grabs at Bring a Trailer effectively demonstrates a classy and simple approach, however, and that certainly paid dividends.

This gorgeous 1965 Corvette convertible was completely refurbished back in 2015, but still looks no worse for wear today. The exterior is pure and clean thanks to a fresh Ermine White paint job with a red hood stripe, a red convertible top, removable hardtop, side exhaust, and a set of chrome 17-inch American Racing Salt Flat Special wheels wrapped with Yokohama Advan Fleva tires. Nothing outrageous by any means, but it looks absolutely amazing in our opinion.

The same goes for the interior, which remains in essentially original condition with a sea of red covering the vinyl seats, dash, door panels, and carpet. However, there are a few amenities present where they’re called for. Those include a Vintage Air HVAC system, along with power steering and four-wheel disc brakes. Everything else is pretty much as it was when this car was originally produced, because why mess with perfection?

Though the C2 was available with some seriously powerful engine options, this drop top has a big upgrade in that department as well. Pop the hood, and you’ll find a 396 cubic-inch big block that was rebuilt a few years ago and has been treated to a Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection system and MSD electronic ignition to make it a bit more reliable. Again, nothing crazy here like forced induction or a massive cam, just a few upgrades designed to make it a bit nicer to drive.

Unlike many builds we cover these days, this ’65 Corvette doesn’t have a laundry list of modifications or a slew of trophies to show off. Instead, it’s a beautiful, mildly upgraded cruiser that anyone would be proud to have in their garage, and to us, that’s the perfect kind of Corvette to own.
