Signed by Zora Arkus-Duntov, this faithfully restored 1953 Corvette #32 is a powerful testament to the genius of the C1 ‘Vette.
There are only a handful of vehicles that have risen to the levels that Corvette has. Looking at the C8 Corvette of today–and the Zo6 of tomorrow–it has come a long way. But this shouldn’t be a surprise. The history of the Chevy Corvette kicked off with a bang. After years of development, the Corvette made its debut in 1953.
And it changed everything.
The 1953 Corvette transported the American sports car to new levels; and shook up the industry worldwide. Chevrolet only produced 300 Corvettes in 1953. Finding an inaugural C1 Corvette is a white whale for collectors and enthusiasts alike. So, when we spotted this remarkable 1953 Corvette at ProTeam Corvettes; we knew that attention must be paid.
This week’s Torque Tuesday features a rare and just about perfect 1953 Corvette convertible.
This ‘Vette is in exceptional condition. It has been well maintained over the years; and all restoration work is period correct and flawless. It is a time machine that takes us to Corvette heaven.

Numbers-matching, the VIN reveals it was #32 of the 300 that came off the lines in 1953. Adding to its provenance, “Father of the Corvette” Zora Arkus-Duntov signed the underside of the hood. Does it get better than the personal touch of the man himself?
Under the hood–and the watchful eye of big daddy Zora–is the “Blue Flame” inline six-cylinder engine. Mated to a two-speed Powerglide unit, it makes 150 horses.

Stock options included are: Wonder Bar radio, e-brake warning flasher, windshield washers, courtesy lights, heater, hubcaps and wide white tires. Factory correct and OEM components blend together throughout and include jack, jack tools, trunk mat, shifter, air cleaners, generator, hoses and clamps, hood pop-ups, side draft carbs, and spiral shocks.
The level of work that went into the body off restoration is mind blowing. It has only 67 miles on the odometer, and includes all the original documentation, owner brochures, and certification.
We love classics, but this 1953 Corvette is something really special. It is a page from Corvette history, and shows its brilliantly potent origin story.
