Your Daily Reminder That the New Corvette Z06 Sounds Incredible

Sometimes the job of an auto journalist is to bang out a few hundred words on breaking news. Other times we pound our keyboards to the tune of a couple thousand words, musing on form, function, features, and market trends. Today, my friends, there is no story. Simply a suggestion, “hey, watch this video.” Because, with one’s speakers or headphone volumes adequately raised, this YouTube Short from HorsePower Obsessed is a quick taste of sonic glory. Starring a Rapid Blue Corvette Z06, listen as the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated V8 sings its flat-plane crank siren song.

In other Z06 news, GM recently opened up the order banks for the forthcoming 2023 Corvette Z06. (They’ve also been trying to prevent third-party flippers from driving up prices, which start at $106K for a 1LZ coupe.) Described by General Motors as the most track-focused Corvette of all time, the new Z06 boasts a 5.5L flat-plane crank V8 boasting 670 horsepower at 8,400 RPM. It’s the second model in the expanding eighth-generation Corvette lineup.

Speaking of which, next year, we’ll presumably see the release of the first hybrid all-wheel-drive Corvette. And the year after that, we expect to see a top-of-the-line ZR1. There are also pretty solid rumors about GM cooking up an all-electric Corvette sedan that will be built on the same platform as the Cadillac LYRIQ.
