Living its life under two owners, this amazing low-mile 1963 Corvette coupe hasn’t traveled far over the past few decades.
While there are plenty of low-mile examples of plenty of collector cars out there in the world, we still don’t see a ton of old Corvettes with scant mileage showing on the odometer. Many of these cars, in fact, have been driven quite a bit over the years, many well over 100,000 miles, mainly because they’re both amazing to drive and quite reliable. All of that makes this particular 1963 Corvette coupe – which is going up for grabs at Mecum’s upcoming Monterey auction on August 18-20 – a pretty darn rare and cool find, since it has traveled a mere 28k miles in its lifetime.
An amazing two-owner vehicle that is unrestored and original, this 1963 Corvette coupe may not be perfect in terms of cosmetics, but it is quite the unicorn in the world of the Corvette. It unsurprisingly comes with a host of paperwork and various other goodies including the original tires, the warranty booklet, the original window sticker, and documentation since it was sold new.
In addition to that documentation, this amazing black-on-black survivor also brings some prestigious hardware along with it, including Bloomington Gold Survivor certification in 2005, as well as a Bronze award that it was granted at the Chevy/VetteFest Spinner Concourse in 2005, too. In terms of equipment, this C2 features GM’s 327 cubic-inch V8 pumping out a factory-rated 340 horsepower, which it sends to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
Other notable options include a Positraction rear end, metallic brakes, and a signal seek radio, which gave this car an original MSRP of $4,837.20, thanks to its modest destination charge of $39.25. After leaving the plant, it was shipped to Bob Motl Chevrolet in Chicago, Illinois, which is precisely where the original owner purchased it.
Today, thanks to two loving owners, this 1963 Corvette coupe remains in its original condition with scant miles on the clock, which is a true rarity worth celebrating. As such, it’s also expected to rake in a significant $200-$250k at auction later this month, though it appears to be worth every penny of that particular auction estimate.
