1961 Corvette

This 1961 Corvette looks stock from the outside, but it’s basically a new car underneath.

Restomods are all the rage these days, but 99 percent of the time, those vehicles have, at the very least, some modern wheels installed to tip off what’s going on underneath all that fiberglass. Others go even further and modify the body of their Corvettes to make them look different, with mixed results. however, the casual observer would never know this 1961 Corvette for sale at Bring a Traileris anything other than a nice, stock C1, until they pop the hood or look underneath it.

This 1961 Corvette was treated to a refurbishment a few years ago that included painting it Roman Red with white coves, a deviation from the previous hue – Honduras Maroon – that covered its flanks. At that same time, the frame was painted and several areas were covered in tinted LineX textured bedliner, including the underside, wheel wells, engine compartment, and trunk. A replacement white convertible top and 15-inch steel wheels with covers and whitewall tires rounds out the retro look.’

Inside the cabin, this 1961 Corvette features recovered Fawn vinyl seats with matching door panels and carpeting, along with a few updated components including an Old Air Products climate-control system, a vintage-style stereo, and Dakota Digital gauges – but nothing too audacious.

Peek underneath, however, and you’ll notice quite a few modern goodies, including a power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering setup, Jim Meyer Racing front suspension components, and front disc brakes. The same goes for under the hood, where you’ll find a Chevrolet Performance 350 cubic-inch V8 with the Ram Jet port fuel-injection system, stainless steel headers, a dual exhaust, a DeWitts aluminum radiator, and an electric cooling fan.

Mated to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission, this C1 certainly seems like it would be a heck of a lot of fun to drive, and that’s precisely the point here. Timeless looks, combined with modern performance, makes for one heck of a combination, and this 1961 Corvette quite literally has it all.
