One of just 1,000 produced, this Corvette Grand Sport Collector Edition cranks out 1,240 horsepower at the wheels.

The Corvette Grand Sport is gone but certainly not forgotten, having not made the transition to the C8 generation of America’s sports car lineup, even though rumors suggest that it might. Regardless, for now, the C7 GS is the most modern iteration fans can buy, and the rarest if the Corvette Grand Sport Collector Edition, of which just 1,000 were produced in total. This example, up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, is number 464 of that lot, but it’s most certainly not some low-mile, stock, still-in-wrapper collector’s item by any means.

With just 6,900 miles on the clock, this car certainly qualifies as “low-mile,” but it has also received a bevy of upgrades courtesy of Late Model Racecraft. On the outside, like every Corvette Grand Sport Collector Edition, this particular car is finished in Watkins Glen Gray with Tension Blue hash marks and the Satin Black Grand Sport center stripe package, but there is one big deviation here – a set of 17-inch front and 15-inch rear Billet Specialties wheels, which are wrapped with Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Pro tires.

Peek inside, and there are a few more clues as to what’s really going on with this build, including a blue roll cage that matches the Tension Blue interior bits, as well as an Ice Box water tank in the rear hatch. Underneath, the C7 has been fitted with new lower control arms and tie rod ends, along with smaller brakes in the rear to clear those smaller wheels and meaty tires. Pop the hood, however, and it’s immediately clear that this is no stock Corvette.

That’s because LMR gave this car’s 6.2-liter LT1 V8 a total overhaul, adding a Procharger F1X supercharger, forged pistons and connecting rods, LMR CNC cylinder heads, a custom-ground camshaft, Chromoly pushrods, relocated coil packs, an LMR fuel system, a Methanol injection system, and an air-to-water intercooler. The resulting 1,240 wheel horsepower generated by that powerplant flows through an eight-speed automatic transmission back to a Wave Trac rear differential.

Ultimately, this is one wicked build, but the fact that the seller chose to complete it on a rare car like the GS Collector Edition makes it all the more interesting. Regardless, we’re going to go out on a limb and bet that it’s the quickest such model in existence, at least.
