With a laundry list of engine upgrades, this particular C6 Corvette ZR1 looks like a sketchy but supremely fun machine.

Few new vehicles have had an impact like the C6 Corvette ZR1 did when it debuted, sending the entire world into collective shock when it launched with a mind-boggling at-the-time 638 horsepower. The Blue Devil, as it’s otherwise known, has since become a collectible icon, but it’s also pretty old school in terms of its driving experience. And by that, we mean that it requires a bit of skill to drive safely, mainly because it has so much power in a light, rear-wheel-drive package. That makes this heavily-modified C6 Corvette ZR1 up for grabs at Bring a Trailer a dicey proposition for some, but also a pretty awesome one for the rest of us.

The seller purchased this C6 ZR1 back in 2016 and promptly went about making it even crazier than it is from the factory, a process that started on the outside with the addition of an APR carbon-fiber front splitter and rear diffuser, 19-inch front and 18-inch rear Forgeline VX1 wheels, and 285/30 Nitto Invo front tires and 345/35 Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S tires fore and aft. Generally, that’s a pretty good indication that more is at play under the hood, and that’s certainly the case here, too.

This ZR1’s 6.2-liter LS9 powerplant has been treated to a laundry list of modifications including a replacement supercharger, ported heads, a GP Tuning Stage 3 cam, Synergy intake, a larger throttle body, ID1300 injectors, a new pulley, Corsa exhaust, ARH headers, and much, much more. The seller didn’t disclose how much power this combo is making, but we imagine that it’s a healthy increase over the stock powerplant’s output.

Interestingly, the modifications don’t stop there, either. Inside the cabin, the seller fitted this C6 Corvette ZR1 with an interior sourced from a 2012 ZR1 Centennial Special Edition, giving it Ebony leather seats with microfiber inserts and red stitching, a look that’s repeated on the dash and door panels. There’s also an aftermarket steering wheel with a “Jake” logo in the center and carbon fiber around the rim.

While the C6 ZR1 has become increasingly valuable lately, this heavily-modified example doesn’t figure to command a premium due to its many modifications and the fact that it sustained some front end damage a few years back. However, if you’re the type that favors speed over collectibility, it might just be the perfect find.
