Aside from receiving a financial reward, 2023 Corvette Z06 flippers will also be punished in more ways than one.

The 2023 Corvette Z06 is easily one of the hottest new vehicles on the planet, which in this world, means that it’s going to be virtually impossible to get one’s hands on one, unless you’re willing to pay a premium to do so. Aside from insane dealer markups, prospective buyers will also have to deal with flippers inevitably looking to make a tidy profit on their good fortune, as has been the case with the C8 Stingray for some time now. Regardless, General Motors appears to be getting serious about quelling such activity. After word leaked out that GM will be giving owners who keep their cars for a year $5,000 worth of My Chevrolet Rewards Points, it seems as if it will also void the warranties of those that don’t keep their 2023 Corvette Z06 at least a year, according to a dealer letter seen by Corvette Blogger.

The letter outlines a series of steps that GM is taking “to combat the flipping and brokering of high demand, limited production vehicles” and “to help prioritize Corvette Z06 ownership by our top brand enthusiasts and most loyal customers,” according to the automaker. While those that keep their new Z06 for at least 12 months will get the aforementioned 500,000 rewards points, those that do not face a couple of repercussions as well, it seems.

The first is a major loss of privilege, at least for those that plan on purchasing a special GM product in the future. “They will be ineligible to place vehicle reservations or place a sold order with a dealer for certain high demand models (as identified by GM) including but not limited to future Corvette Z06,” the letter states. Additionally, the “Bumper-to-Bumper, Powertrain, Sheet Metal, Tire, and Accessory coverages under GM’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty will be voided” on those particular cars as well.

GM is asking dealers to have customers sign an acknowledgment form upon delivery, which outlines these conditions as it aims to place the C8 Z06 in the hands of “true enthusiasts.” Undoubtedly, those that do plan to keep and drive their new Z will be pleased by these new rules, though there will obviously be some cases where people might not want to sell, and yet, could be forced to if unforeseen circumstances pop up. It’s unclear if the automaker would allow exceptions to these rules, but for now at least, it’s pretty obvious that it’s somewhat serious about fighting flippers.
