Who Needs a Truck When You Can Daily Drive a C7 Corvette Like Harry!

Harry is 80-years-old and owns a C7 Corvette. It’s his only car. It’s also his only truck. So he uses it for hauling, camping, and hunting. Harry is our new favorite Corvette owner. #GOAT

As most Corvette fans are well aware by now, General Motors plans on expanding its legendary sports car into an entire family of vehicles – one that includes not only the first hybrid and all-electric variants of the seven decade-old model, but also a sedan and crossover. This is obviously a controversial decision, one that has riled up the Corvette faithful like nothing we’ve seen before. However, one C7 Corvette owner named Harry already uses his sports car for pretty much everything – whether that be hauling stuff, hunting, or doing work around his various properties.

Harry also happens to be an active 80-year-old who lives next door to CorvetteForum member Hollingswerth, who recently uploaded some photos in THIS THREAD

This is to acknowledge my friend and neighbor, Harry, and his well worn C7 “work truck.” Despite being 80 yrs old, Harry remains an avid hunter/fisherman/sportsman and competitive golfer. He can still install a deer stand 50 feet up in a tree. As a rural land and real estate developer, he is constantly out working on his properties.

His work truck, which is his only vehicle and daily driver, is a 2016 C7 Stingray! As Harry puts it, he’s got the best of both worlds – the joy of driving a vette everyday, with the functionality of a truck. With age comes wisdom!

Harry dubbing his C7 Corvette a “work truck” is pretty much the greatest thing ever. And also demonstratable proof of how practical these sports cars can actually be. Here he’s loaded in all sorts of cargo. That includes the aforementioned prize catch from a recent hunting trip, spare gas cans, a shovel, mulch, bug spray, and pretty much anything else the avid hunter, fisherman, and all-around sportsman might need.

Harry is also a rural land and real estate developer that needs to drive across rugged terrain on a regular basis, which his Corvette is also more than capable of doing, apparently. And despite his age, none of these things are out of reach – in fact, he has no trouble installing deer stands 50 feet up in the air, apparently.

Truthfully, it’s somewhat refreshing to see someone that actually uses their sports car like a car (er, truck?), rather than baby it and keep it spotless in a climate-controlled garage, only to drive it on nice, sunny days. And while it’s highly unlikely we’ll ever see a Corvette pickup of any sort emerge from the General, it’s a fun idea at least, and one that may also very well have a viable business case behind it – if there were more Harrys in the world, anyway.

Huge thanks to Hollingswerth for sharing Harry’s story and Corvette here on the forums.
