Top Reason Why Each Corvette Generation Can Claim to Be the Best
We look back at every Corvette generation and select the number one reason why each one can legitimately be called the best.
The Corvette has been around for an astounding 70 years. It is now well into its eighth generation. The C8 generation is spectacular but is it the best ever? If so, why? Or why not? We recently claimed that the current Corvette era is the greatest. That is all well and good. But now we want to focus on the specific Corvette generations. C1 through C8. Every one of them has a legitimate reason why it could claim to be the best Corvette generation of all-time. In fact, each generation can list multiple reasons why it is the best. But for the purpose of this article we tried to keep things simple and select only one reason.
Some generations lasted longer than others. The C2 cars only lasted five short years. The C3 went on for 15 years. But just because a particular generation stuck around for longer doesn’t make it better. We are looking at the cars produced during the full generation run. The toughest part was trying to stick to just one reason why it could be named the best. If nothing else this exercise reminded us just how impressive the Corvette has been since 1953. There are not many duds out there. Below in generation order is why each is the best.
C1 – The Original
The C1 is the best because it is the generation that started it all. The C1 is the original Corvette. And as we all know a sequel is almost never as good as the original. If you don’t agree that the C1 is the greatest generation, that is your prerogative. However, you must realize that without the C1 there is nothing else. If your favorite generation is anything other than the C1 you need to accept that it owes its existence to the C1. It is a simple as that. It all started here and therefore the C1 is the greatest Corvette generation.
