Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion to Host Special 70th Anniversary Corvette Tribute

The 2023 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will feature a curated collection of Corvettes for fans to enjoy.

Since 1974, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion has provided automotive and motorsports fans with a pretty fantastic array of historic racers, all within the comfy confines of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. This year, the event once again promises to assemble hundreds of amazing machines in one place over one weekend in August, proving that some of these priceless machines are still quite capable of going around the track – not just sitting around collecting dust. However, Corvette fans have something extra-special to look forward to at this year’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, which will host a special tribute for the sports car’s 70th anniversary.

This special display will feature a curated selection of Corvettes build over those seven decades, joining over 400 total vehicles competing in 14 different classes each day from August 16-19. Of course, it’s a fitting combination given the fact that the Corvette has played a vital role not only in automotive history in general, but it has also left an indelible mark on the world of motorsports, too.

GM started racing the Corvette way back in 1956, when it was still relatively new, all under the watchful eye of Zora Arkus-Duntov. It found immediate success, winning the 1956 Sport Car Club of America’s C-Production national championship with Dick Thompson behind the wheel, a monumental victory that prompted many to follow suit and campaign in GM’s fiberglass sports car, across all sorts of series.
