REPORT: Could a 2025 Corvette SUV Debut Later This Year?

Corvette EV SUV

A Corvette SUV is likely coming, and much to our surprise, it may boast not one, but two snarling V8 engine options!

Much like the long-rumored (and now very real) mid-engine Corvette, we may be one step closer to seeing a Corvette SUV that isn’t just an artist rendering (per the above). Car and Driver is reporting that General Motors is quietly preparing to unveil a Corvette SUV later this calendar year as a 2025 model. Is this the “incredible performance car” GM President Mark Reuss teased last November that’s “set the standard of the world for performance for Chevrolet?”

Time will tell.

According to the report, written by Senior Testing Editor, David Beard, GM wants to go Porsche hunting. The goal? Dive into the performance SUV market that Porsche established with the Cayenne and, more recently, the Macan. This may sound silly to a sports car enthusiast, but when one looks at performance brands like Porsche, Lamborghini, Jaguar, and Audi, every one of their respective best-sellers is an SUV. And, of course, we live in a country where the Ford Motor Company almost exclusively sells SUVs and trucks.

Corvette SUV – Performance & Platform

Beard further reported that he expects the Corvette SUV to be built on the current-generation Alpha Platform. This stellar performance vehicle platform has given the world the Cadillac ATS, CTS, CT4, and CT5 along with the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro. (As an ATS owner, this platform is stiff and sporty with an eye toward comfort and driving dynamics. And, of course, the various V and V-Blackwing variants are all incredible).

Along with a 10-speed auto and optional Mag ride suspension, GM allegedly plans to offer upwards of four engine options (not all available at launch, of course)–

  • ~300 horsepower turbocharged 4 cylinder
  • ~400 horsepower twin-turbo V6
  • ~500 horsepower 6.2L V8
  • 682 horsepower supercharged 6.2L V8 (Can you guess the Z model name?)

There may also be two different models/sizes.

With the world quickly shifting toward EVs, we here at CorvetteForum have been expecting the Corvette SUV to debut as a new all-electric Chevrolet. But if this reporting (this speculation?) is true, if GM wants to avoid pulling a Mustang Mach-E, Corvette fans could be in for (at least) a few more years of gasoline-powered fun. Especially with LT2 and LT4 variants…

Chevrolet might blow the doors off the internal combustion era with the greatest family hauler ever made.

Corvette SUV Pricing & Availability

Car and Driver expects the Corvette SUV to have a starting MSRP of around $60,000 with pricing rising quickly as one adds more power and options. It should be available in mid-to-late 2024 as a 2025 model.
