C8 Stingray Center Exit Exhaust

This C8 Stingray LeMans Edition center exhaust setup not only looks far better than OEM, but it sounds amazing!

While it was lavished with near-universal praise from the day it launched, the C8 Corvette does – like everything in life – have a couple of “flaws” that some folks aren’t fans of. One of the biggest, it seems, is the exhaust, or rather, the exhaust tips, which are square for some odd reason and reside at the left and right sides of the bumper. The Z06 fixed that little issue with a proper quad, round-tip center exit exhaust, which is a far better look. Luckily, those that own a C8 Stingray can also upgrade their car in this manner, as is demonstrated in this video from SOS Customz.

Interestingly, this process is far more straightforward than one might expect, thanks in part to the fact that this kit from LeMans Edition comes with a trim piece that makes room in the center for the exhaust tips while also closing off the spot where the original tips are present. The biggest obstacle in this journey is simply removing the rear bumper, which seems to be required to do just about anything in the back of the C8 Stingray, whether that be changing out the exhaust or even the spoiler.

After removing the bumper, wheels and tires, wheel liners, and exhaust shields, the team turns its attention to the inner splash guard panel, which can be removed using T15 Torx bits. However, this job isn’t done just yet, as the crew also needs to remove the interior paneling and expose the cover for the air box, which helps them gain access to the bolts needed to remove the stock exhaust.

In this case, the team decided to delete the valves in the exhaust because the owner simply wants maximum volume all the time, and the installation is pretty straightforward from there. Though it involves the time-consuming tasks of removing quite a few components, the benefits of this new center exist exhaust on a C8 Stingray are immediately apparent – not only does it look far better than OEM, but it also sounds pretty incredible, too – and that alone makes it worth the time and effort in our book.
