C4 Corvette Crash and Fire Leaves Poor Car Nearly Unrecognizable

This C4 Corvette crash left little more than a molten pile of goo that’s barely recognizable at this point.

We’ve certainly seen our fair share of Corvette-related crashes over the years, most of them resulting from dangerous, distracted, or downright reckless driving, or at least other people that are engaging in such activities, only to smash into our beloved sport cars. Oftentimes, the results of those wrecks are some pretty hairy scenes, as we’ve seen cars get cut in half or reduced to piles of parts in fractions of a second. This particular C4 Corvette crash that happened recently led to a total meltdown, however, as we can see from these photos provided by WDAM 7 News.

As is often the case, this C4 Corvette wreck occurred after the driver attempted to flee pursuing police, this time in the area of Forrest County, Mississippi. The chase actually spanned two police districts, which meant that the Corvette driver was contending with quite a variety of law enforcement before disaster struck and put an end to the chase quickly and in dramatic fashion. Rather than wrecking their car, the Corvette driver was probably a bit taken back when it overheated, which caused it to catch on fire.

It isn’t clear how this happened, exactly, but being that this is an older – likely uncared for vehicle – the cause could be attributed to all sorts of things, perhaps a fuel leak of some sort. Regardless, the poor Corvette proceeded to burn to a crisp before the fire department arrived to put it out, leaving nothing but a shell and the wheels behind. If that wasn’t there, it would be tough to tell what this pile of melted goo even is.

On the bright side, no one was hurt through the course of this chase, which is an unusual but welcome development. On the flip side, the driver of the Corvette was taken to Stone County Jail, though there’s no word on what he’s being charged with, nor why police pursued him in the first place. As for the car, well, it’s a total loss, obviously, which is truly a sad ending for the decades-old model.
