Around 150 2024 Corvette E-Ray units were built with sellable VINs last week, meaning that the car’s launch remains on track.

It hasn’t been terribly long since the 2024 Corvette E-Ray debuted, ushering in an entirely new era of electrification for the long-running,  beloved sports car. Set to go on sale later this year, the hybrid Corvette promises to be a performer, thanks to its combination of the Stingray’s 6.2-liter LT2 V8 coupled with a front-mounted electric motor, which makes it an all-wheel-drive beast with a total of 655 horsepower, good for a 2.5-second 0-60 romp, according to GM. Now, it seems as if the eager fans who camped out to order one may not have to wait too much longer to take delivery either, according to new info from Roger Kiel of the C8 Corvette Owners (and Friends) Facebook group.

Kiel recently posted a chart showing 2024 Corvette E-Ray production figures, revealing that around 150 cars with sellable VINs rolled off the assembly line at Bowling Green last week. These aren’t customer-ordered cars, of course, but rather, vehicles that will be used by engineers and GM folks to test and evaluate, after which they’ll be offered to dealers as pre-owned vehicles. However, it’s still notable given the fact that prior to this, E-Ray production was still limited to those with experimental VINs that aren’t sellable.

Interestingly, GM had to scale back regular Stingray production to make room for these E-Ray models, to the tune of 50 or so per shift, which is down from the high 70s. However, Kiel noted that this will change very soon and that E-Ray production won’t have a negative impact on the Stingray, and will instead essentially take the place of the outgoing 70th Anniversary model.

As Bowling Green has the capacity to build around 200 cars per day, Kiel speculates that this means GM could split that number into 140 Stingrays and around 60 E-Ray and Z06 models, though how this ultimately pans out remains to be seen. Regardless, what is important to note here is that regular 2024 Corvette E-Ray production remains on track to begin later this year, meaning that at least for now, there are no perceivable delays involved in this process.
