2013 Corvette 427 Is One of 97 Built and Has Just 781 Original Miles

This rare and notable 2013 Corvette 427 is an amazing car that’s listed for sale in a very unusual place.

Sometimes you see something and wonder – ‘how did it get there?’ Heck, there are entire internet threads and sites devoted to such topics, which are undoubtedly interesting and entertaining in many cases. That same concept also applies to this rather rare and immaculate 2013 Corvette 427, which is currently up for grabs at CarMax – a rather unusual vessel for such a machine, which would be better served on a collector car auction site or Corvette-centric marketplace, but we here we are, regardless.

First spotted by The Drive, this particular 2013 Corvette 427 is a very special version of the C6-gen model, starting with the fact that it has a mere 781 miles showing on the odometer. As such, it’s in simply amazing condition, with nary a flaw to be found. That yellow paint shines like new, and its contrasting black and gray two-tone interior barely looks like anyone has even sat in it, let alone driven it. But those are the sorts of things we expect from a sub-1k mile car of any kind.

Of course, this isn’t just a nice, low-mile C6 – the limited-edition 427 moniker makes it more special and significantly more rare. Built to celebrate the Corvette’s 60th anniversary, the 427 somewhat blended elements from the Z06 and ZR1, a recipe that included the former’s 7.0-liter LS7 V8, which was rated to produce 505 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.

Flowing to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, this particular configuration offers brisk performance, even a decade later – 0-60 takes just 3.9 seconds, while the quarter-mile flashes by in 12.2 clicks. Keep your foot down, and you’ll hit 182 mph before the car evens out, all of which are impressive numbers, even by today’s lofty standards.

These facts alone would make this a desirable machine, but it’s also quite rare – GM built just 1,000 C6 427 anniversary cars, and of that group, just 97 of them were finished in Velocity Yellow like this one. Thus, the asking price of $69,998 seems somewhat reasonable, particularly when we consider the fact that the original sticker price for this car came in at $76,900. And in that case, does it really matter where we’re buying it from?
